I beat the weekend.

Weekends are the enemy of weight loss. It’s been seven weeks now since I started managing my weight like a normal person. I weigh myself every day and yesterday was the first time in seven weeks that my Sunday weight was less than my Saturday weight. I’ve gained 5.8 pounds on Sundays, and lost 39.8 on every other day. But yesterday, I went from 369.6 to 368.8. Not only that, it was over a five-day weekend. I win.

Anyway, going back to my evening with Josh on Friday night, my plan worked fantastically. Yes, I ate too many calories, and yes, I ate an insane amount of sodium (jerky will do that), but I ate a lot less than the last time we had man time. I also switched out my regular tonic water for diet tonic water. I won’t lie, it’s not as good. However, after a couple of them, you begin to notice the difference less.

Also, I’m starting to approach my biggest weight loss, or at least the most I’ve lost as part of a conscious effort. I lost 42 pounds a few years ago on Weight Watchers in three months, and then inexplicably just decided fuck that, time for steak!

This blog entry feels flat. It’s not easy to come up with something each day that’s compelling or interesting, even to me. At the same time, I think that blogging every day, or at least most days, is important at least for accountability. And not just some one-paragraph bullshit about how awesome I am. (Though, to be fair, that would be amazing for you to read. In fact, I feel a bit sorry for you that you don’t get to read that.)

I need to write something substantive at least a few times a week. Blogging consistently and updating my weight every day also means I don’t get to cheat or, if I’m going to, I had damn well better be willing to tell everyone that I know about it. Even if I tried to leave it off my food log for the day, the scale doesn’t lie. And even if I tried to lie about what the scale said, you’d know if I tried to say I was 30 pounds lighter and you saw that I was as fat as ever.
